Job title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
California Baptist University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of facilities services tasks, including structural, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning maintenance and repair, at a level not requiring formal licensure. The role provides hands-on maintenance and repairs across multiple trades to support campus buildings and facilities.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and perform carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, door and hardware installation, and painting interior and exterior finishes as appropriate.
- Perform and assist, in non-technical maintenance, installation, and repair to buildings and equipment in construction and mechanical trades including plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, masonry, metal work, glazing, tile work, roofing, flooring, ventilating systems, welding, and mechanics.
- Make routine and emergency repairs and adjustments to campus buildings and facilities.
- Apply finishes to a variety of surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, stucco, wallboard, brick, and cement.
- Perform general maintenance of plumbing systems, including standard repairs of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing pipe systems, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assist licensed plumbing contractors as required.
- Perform standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as lamps, fixtures, switches, outlets; assist licensed electrical contractors with non-technical repairs and installations as required.
- May perform general custodial and janitorial tasks as required.
- May repair, service, or replace appliances (refrigerators, stoves, ranges, dishwashers, and other equipment).
- Ensure careful use, proper maintenance of, repairs to, and proper operations of equipment such as drain snakes, dehumidifiers, floor fans, extractors, and power and hand tools.
- Assist with moving heavy furniture, equipment, and materials as assigned.
- Follow department policies and procedures to complete maintenance requests through the University work order systems.
- Access and update the work order systems via tablet; ensure proper updates and documentation are recorded.
- Request parts and supplies as needed for tasks, including parts pickup at local vendors.
- Attend regular safety meetings and work in a safe manner.
- Participate in and complete training programs determined necessary by OSHA, CalOSHA, and the EPA which promote safe and healthy environments.
