About the Role BioMed Realty is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to provide onsite and remote support to its west coast life science real estate portfolio (San Francisco, South San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Boulder). This role blends hands-on coordination with technical problem solving and data-driven facilities support in a dynamic life sciences environment. What You'll Do
- Support the technical and strategic operation of BioMed Realty’s life science facilities
- Implement building operating and maintenance programs to improve reliability, performance, and energy efficiency
- Assist facilities managers with planning and executing projects of varying complexity
- Maintain facility records, equipment logs, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and other technical documentation
- Track schedules, budgets, proposals, invoices, and closeout materials for capital improvement and repair projects
- Manage utility sub-metering systems; analyze data and run quarterly reviews with property teams; create Excel-based energy models for new properties
- Assist in preparing and tracking annual facilities utility budgets; analyze historical consumption, review rates, and project usage
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations related to facilities performance, budgets, service activity, and project status
- Participate in site inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational issues
- Comply with benchmarking requirements for utility consumption in ESPM and GRESB
- Support emergency response and urgent facilities issues during or after business hours as needed
- Support management of internal programs and initiatives; maintain security of confidential data What We're Looking For
- Interest in facilities, building operations, or technical coordination; basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building controls
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; detail-oriented and proactive with task tracking and documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and service providers
- Proficiency with Excel, CMMS, work order systems, and general business software; ability to learn new systems quickly
- Problem-solving mindset in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, facilities management, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with CMMS, BAS/BMS, utility tracking tools, or related technical documentation
- Exposure to facilities work in life sciences, laboratories, manufacturing, healthcare, or commercial real estate
- Familiarity with reading floor plans, equipment schedules, and MEP drawings
- Experience supporting vendors, service contracts, maintenance programs, or small projects
- Ability to move around offices, labs, and support areas; lift up to 25 pounds; work at a computer for extended periods; perform site walks as needed
- Availability to respond to urgent facilities issues outside normal business hours
- Valid California driver’s license; potential for company vehicle insurance Nice to Have
- Experience with Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) and GRESB
- Experience with energy budgeting, sub-metering data analysis, and energy modeling
- Prior life sciences facility or greenhouse operations exposure Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $40.37 - $50.32 per hour
