About the Role Xylem is seeking a Fabricator to fit, join, and fabricate portable pumping units and accessories using accurate measurement and welding techniques, and to rework finished products as needed. What You'll Do
- Comply with XDS and OSHA safety standards, procedures, and regulations, including daily participation in safety/toolbox meetings.
- Move machinery and equipment using forklifts, cranes, hoists, dollies, and rollers.
- Dismantle and assemble pumping units and accessories.
- Perform MIG welding on mild steel components (including reworking finished products) according to layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
- Weld pumps and engines together.
- Perform assembly work and mechanic work.
- Read blueprints and use tape measuring for accurate fabrication.
- Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
- Align shafts using laser equipment.
- Collaborate with co-workers to produce multi-component parts and large units.
- Inspect equipment to maintain proper function.
- Complete housekeeping duties in the assigned area daily or as required. What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to four years of experience in a production or job shop or Technical Center.
- Welding background, with knowledge of MIG welding equipment and processes.
- Supply own tools.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication of piping and structural steel assemblies.
- Knowledge of assembling rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and understand production assembly drawings, specifications, and welding symbols.
- Ability to lay out prototypes without assembly drawings.
- Ability to operate manual or semi-automated welding equipment.
- Ability to use measurement and aligning tools and/or equipment.
- Ability and willingness to follow directions and be a team player.
- Ability to work independently when needed. Nice to Have
- Knowledge of diesel and electric motor-driven pump assembly is preferred.
- Forklift certification is preferred. Compensation & Benefits
- The estimated pay range for this position is $21-30 per hour. Starting pay is dependent on factors such as skills, experience, and work location.
