Position Overview

AttoTude is seeking a hands-on Fabrication Technician to support the development and execution of micro- and nanofabrication processes for our core technology. This role is based in the Berkeley Nanolab and works closely with AttoTude engineers and researchers to fabricate, iterate, and characterize devices in a fast-moving R&D environment.

This position is well-suited for either:

  • An experienced fabrication technician who enjoys executing and improving process flows

  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and excited to work on cutting-edge fabrication challenges in a shared-user cleanroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute micro- and nanofabrication process flows in the Berkeley Nanolab cleanroom

  • Operate fabrication equipment including:

  • Photolithography tools (spin coaters, mask aligners, developers)

  • Dry and wet etching tools (RIE, DRIE, wet etch)

  • Thin film deposition systems (evaporation, sputtering, PECVD)

  • Metrology and inspection tools (optical microscopy, profilometry, ellipsometry, SEM)

  • Support process development, optimization, and repeatability for AttoTude devices

  • Maintain detailed fabrication logs, travelers, and process documentation

  • Follow all Berkeley Nanolab safety, chemical handling, and cleanroom protocols

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of AttoTude fabrication workflows

  • Required Qualifications

  • • Prior experience working in a micro- or nanofabrication cleanroom (academic, industrial, or internship experience acceptable)

  • • Familiarity with semiconductor, MEMS, or nanofabrication processes

  • • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and refine complex process flows

  • • Excellent organizational and documentation skills

  • • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small technical team

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–10+ years of hands-on cleanroom fabrication experience

  • • Experience in a shared-user academic or national lab facility

  • • Interest in growing into a process or device engineering role

  • • Comfortable working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment

  • Annual Salary Range

  • $90,000—$150,000 USD
