About the Role SEIU Local 521 External Organizer based in San Jose, CA. This role focuses on organizing new bargaining units into SEIU Local 521, with emphasis on the public sector, privatized public services, and public healthcare. The goal is to empower workers, win better contracts, and strengthen our region's labor movement. What You'll Do
- Organize non-union workers to join SEIU Local 521.
- Assess, build relationships with, motivate and agitate workers through individual and group meetings.
- Recruit, develop, and mobilize worker organizing committees.
- Identify, recruit, and develop leaders.
- Train and supervise member organizers.
- Plan and execute actions, events, marches, etc. at worksites and beyond.
- Build toward union elections, negotiating election agreements, and filing charges through NLRB and PERB.
- Develop and execute organizing campaign plans.
