Exterior Engineer

About the Role The Exterior Engineer will drive development of wiper, glass and exterior systems for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in China, coordinating localization projects from concept to series release and ensuring alignment with global and JV BBAC expectations. This role combines technical leadership, supplier collaboration, and project management to bring exterior parts to market on time and to customer needs. What You'll Do

• Develop China-specific parts and manage localization projects from concept definition to part release with handover to series production.
• Evaluate and verify localized parts maturity as qualified components; serve as the contact person for RD Germany and JV BBAC on technical issues.
• Assist pilot runs, try-outs, and series productions at production plants with technical support and deep knowledge of exterior systems.
• Support on-time introduction of local and imported parts for current and future MB projects in China.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments (product planning, quality, logistics) to set project milestones and coordinate activities to meet tight schedules.
• Participate in technical and project meetings; present results to stakeholders.
• Fulfill homologation requirements and successfully introduce new parts to the Chinese market. What We're Looking For
• Experience developing China-specific parts and managing localization from concept to release.
• Ability to serve as a contact for RD Germany and BBAC regarding technical issues; capable of evaluating part maturity.
• Experience supporting pilot runs, try-outs, and series production with strong technical knowledge.
• Track record of on-time introduction of local and imported parts in China.
• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and ability to manage milestones and schedules.
• Familiarity with homologation processes for the Chinese market.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; willingness to work in China with MB. Nice to Have
• Experience with exterior components (wiper, glass) development.
• Familiarity with MB localization projects and joint venture BBAC.
• Prior experience collaborating with RD Germany on global projects.
