The Tax Processor 3 role is a specialist position within our Tax Processing function, responsible for independently resolving non-routine tax cases and serving as a point of escalation for less experienced Tax Processors on matters requiring specialized regulatory knowledge. This role supports accurate and timely tax compliance for millions of customers across our platforms.
Responsibilities
- Independently research and resolve non-routine tax notices, penalties, and related issues by analyzing records and applying specialized regulatory knowledge
- Prepare and submit amended tax returns and supporting documentation based on analysis of customer requests and audit findings with high proficiency and accuracy
- Complete comprehensive reconciliations, identifying non-routine discrepancies and determining appropriate corrective steps for individual cases
- Communicate specialized tax guidance directly to customers and explain complex filing requirements to internal stakeholders
- Serve as a point of escalation for Tax Processor 1/2 colleagues on cases requiring specialized regulatory knowledge, escalating only the most complex or precedent-setting issues further (see Discussion Point 4)
- Identify and document recurring process or system friction, contributing observations to improvement discussions owned by Tax Processor 5 or leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (payroll operations, customer support, compliance) on cases requiring coordinated resolution
- Maintain working knowledge of multi-state and multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements relevant to own caseload
Qualifications

Typically 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll tax operations, payroll tax compliance, or a related field

Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated domain expertise; FPC or CPP preferred

Working knowledge of tax regulations, multi-jurisdictional compliance, and government agency filing systems

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to research and resolve non-routine tax issues independently

Proficiency with tax and payroll systems, reconciliation tools, and spreadsheet applications

Effective communication skills, able to explain technical tax concepts to both customers and internal stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to prioritize a caseload of mixed routine and non-routine cases and meet deadlines
