Job Title: Experienced Accountant

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

• We are looking for an experienced, disciplined, and highly trustworthy Accountant to join our team in Ikoyi, Lagos. The ideal candidate should have strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a high level of integrity and accountability.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring financial transactions, preparing reports, supporting financial decision-making, and ensuring that accounting processes are properly followed.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including income, expenses, payments, and receipts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Conduct bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations and promptly resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely processing of transactions.
• Prepare invoices, payment schedules, expense reports, and other relevant financial documents.
• Monitor cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.
• Assist with budgeting, financial planning, and expenditure monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal financial policies.
• Maintain proper documentation and an organised financial filing system.
• Support internal and external audits when required.
• Identify financial discrepancies, control gaps, or irregularities and escalate them appropriately.
• Provide management with accurate financial information to support business decisions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of company financial information.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• ICAN qualification or significant progress toward ICAN certification is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated integrity, discipline, accountability, and discretion.
• Ability to handle sensitive financial information with a high level of confidentiality.
• Candidates who live within reasonable commuting distance of Ikoyi and surrounding areas are preferred.
