About this role

OPay - Events Manager

Location: Lagos

About the Role

We’re looking for a Marketing Manager to join our Integrated Marketing & Communications (IMC) team. Your main focus will be events: OPay’s external and business-led events, and our presence at industry events across different sectors. You’ll also support wider marketing work across the team. We want an all-round marketer who specialises in events, not an event planner only. Every event you deliver should meet two goals: a brand goal and a business goal. You’ll report to the IMC Lead, who sets the overall direction. You’ll own the events function and support other marketing projects within that direction.

What you’ll do

Events and business goals:

  • Link every event to a clear brand goal and a clear business goal.
  • Plan events against the yearly events budget, and show what each event returns for its cost.
  • Turn event requests into clear briefs: goals, audience, budget, timeline and KPIs.

External and business-led events:

  • Plan and deliver OPay’s own external events, from concept to post-event report.
  • Run events end to end: run of show, guest lists, branding, logistics and on-site management.
  • Work with sales, partnerships, brand, creative and PR teams so events support wider business and campaign plans.

Industry events and visibility:

  • Find and assess industry events across sectors, such as fintech, banking, retail, tech and SMEs, where OPay should show up.
  • Recommend which events to attend, speak at or sponsor, and why.
  • Manage OPay’s presence at these events: booths, branding, speaking slots and on-site activity.
  • Build relationships with event organisers and industry bodies.

Wider marketing support:

  • Support the planning and rollout of integrated campaigns across channels.
  • Plan and run on-ground activations and BTL work linked to campaigns.
  • Support brand partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Write briefs for creative, content and production work, and review what comes back.
  • Coordinate agencies and partner teams on assigned projects.
  • Take on other marketing projects as assigned by the IMC Lead.

Budget and vendors:

  • Prepare budgets and cost breakdowns for events and assigned projects.
  • Source and manage vendors and agencies in line with company procurement policy.
  • Keep clear records of all spend.

Reporting:

  • Report on every event and project: results against goals, spend against budget, and brand visibility.
  • Share what worked and what to change next time.

Requirements

Must have:

  • 4–6 years in marketing, with at least 3 years focused on events, agency, or in-house.
  • Has delivered corporate or brand events for 300+ guests.
  • Experience managing a brand’s presence at industry events, conferences or expos.
  • Broad marketing experience: campaigns, activations, partnerships or brand projects.
  • Can tie events and campaigns to business results, not just attendance or reach.
  • Experience managing budgets and several vendors at once.
  • Comfortable working within formal approval and procurement processes.
  • Clear, timely written updates and reports.
  • Willing to travel and work some evenings and weekends.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in fintech, banking, FMCG or telecoms.
  • A network of event organisers and industry contacts in Nigeria.
  • Experience with sponsorship deals or speaking-slot placements.
  • A Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.

Application Closing Date

29th October, 2026.
