Event Technician and Operator

About the Role The Event Technician and Operator will support the John and Joan Mullen Center for the Performing Arts by installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and operating technical systems including staging, audio, lighting, video, and related production functions across Mullen Center spaces, classrooms, rehearsal rooms, and lobbies. This student role provides hands-on technical support for performances, rehearsals, and events.

What You'll Do

• Implement, operate, repair, and troubleshoot technical aspects (staging, audio, theatrical lighting, video, safety) for Mullen Center spaces and related rooms.
• Coordinate lighting, sound, and video operations with university departments, student groups, and external clients; work with Villanova Theatre Department and other units to realize educational and recreational objectives.
• Report to Technical Coordinator/Stage Supervisor I and II with progress updates, long-range plans, and operational details.
• Stage Manage or Assistant Stage Manage performances and events as needed.
• Maintain flexibility for last-minute calls and variable work shifts.
• Maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance across productions.
• Event experience in related production functions.

What We're Looking For

• Event experience as it relates to staging, audio, stage lighting, video, rigging, safety, or other related production and event functions.
• Excellent communicator within an academic environment; ability to instruct, supervise, and clearly explain technical information to diverse audiences (creative personnel, undergrad and graduate students, production staff, other University departments, academic departments, and external clients).
• Excellent customer service skills; ability to develop and sustain productive relationships.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and coordinate with multiple departments and student organizations.
• Flexible with last-minute work calls and variable shifts.
• Working at heights and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation & Benefits

• Wage rate: $13/hour; Hours: 10-20 per week; Location: Mullen Center, Villanova University.
• This is a student position; Work study preferred but open to all students.
