Estimator

About the Role Xtreme Powerline Construction Inc. is expanding its U.S. operations in partnership with Aecon Utilities Inc. to provide large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction services. The Estimator will report to the Estimating Manager and be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for overhead and underground electrical distribution projects across the U.S. and Canada, supporting the full estimating lifecycle and collaborating with operations and project teams.

What You'll Do

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for overhead and underground electrical distribution projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and addendums to develop pricing.
• Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings and contract documents.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist in compiling total project costs including labour, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracted work.
• Participate in job-site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
• Collaborate with Operations, Project Management, and clients to validate scope and assumptions.
• Assist with scope change pricing and estimate revisions.
• Maintain organized estimating files, documentation, and historical data.
• Support bid submissions, RFQs, RFIs, and prequalification packages.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
• Participate in bid handover meetings to ensure alignment with project teams.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with Aecon’s safety standards and risk management procedures.
• Perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy.

What We're Looking For

• Diploma or Degree in Civil, Electrical, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of estimating experience, preferably in overhead and underground distribution.
• Knowledge of utility construction methods, materials, and labour requirements.
