About this role
NAFFCO Future Concerns Fire Systems (NAFFCO FCFS) is the Nigerian arm of NAFFCO, a global leader in fire protection and safety. We design, supply, supervise the installation of, and maintain fire-fighting, fire alarm and life safety systems for clients across the industrial, oil & gas, commercial and infrastructure sectors.
We are looking for an Estimator / Tender Engineer to accurately price our projects and prepare complete, compliant and competitive tender submissions, ensuring they are ready and submitted on time.
The Role
-
Review tender documents, technical specifications and drawings in detail, and raise requests for information (RFIs) with clients and consultants to clarify any requirements.
-
Participate in site surveys alongside the sales team and carry out quantity take-offs from project drawings to support accurate pricing.
-
Prepare bills of quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates, showing supply and installation rates separately and drawing on the product catalogue and rates database.
-
Prepare requests for quotation (RFQs) for suppliers and the registered subcontractor panel, then compare and evaluate the offers received.
-
Compile complete tender packages, including the priced BOQ, technical compliance statement, details of deviations, datasheets and certificates.
-
Monitor tender deadlines, bonds and submission requirements, and keep the tender register and document control records accurate and up to date.
-
Price variations, annual maintenance contract (AMC) work and counter sales for stock items and spare parts.
-
Maintain and update the price and rates database, and review estimates by comparing them with actual project costs.
Job Requirements
-
B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, providing an academic foundation relevant to the role.
-
[3–5] years' experience in estimation or tendering for fire-fighting systems, including systems such as sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, foam or gas suppression.
-
Good working knowledge of NFPA standards and the components used in fire protection systems.
-
Strong quantity take-off and cost-build-up skills, with the ability to account for labour, materials, subcontract work, freight and margins.
-
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to read AutoCAD drawings; experience with estimating software is an advantage.
-
Highly organised and accurate, with the ability to manage several tenders at the same time and meet tight deadlines.
-
Added Value
-
Experience preparing or supporting tenders in the oil & gas sector.
-
Good knowledge of, and practical exposure to, NAFFCO products and price lists.
-
Experience with import costing, including freight, clearing and duties, as well as ERP systems such as Odoo.
What We Offer
-
A competitive salary and benefits package.
-
Opportunities for career growth within the NAFFCO group.
-
Product and technical training covering NAFFCO's full range.
