About the Role Mortenson is seeking an Equipment Specialist (Non-Traveler) to join our team in Dekalb, IL. This role supports day-to-day operations with emphasis on building customer relationships and managing a wide range of equipment and related processes for project teams, Equipment Facility teams, Buyers, and ESM HQ Leadership.
What You'll Do
- Follow established procedures for receiving and processing equipment facility orders and returns from the field
- Source equipment internally and through 3rd party rental/service suppliers
- Generate purchase orders for equipment purchases and rentals
- Reconcile and process billing of contracts, invoices, and work orders daily
- Support electronic Inventory Management and physical inventory on project sites or equipment facilities
- Update Task Code and Off-Rent dates with input from project teams
- Produce Inventory Management reporting and perform quality control of reports; interpret on-rent and forecast reports
- Schedule and lead Pre-Mob meetings with site leadership
- Lead monthly equipment review meetings with project and accounting teams
- Support LEAN / 5S initiatives and collaborate with EF craft teams
- Facilitate forecast review meetings with project teams and trade partners
- Reconcile fleet invoicing with accounting, fleet vendors and project teams
- Provide equipment solutions and issue resolution, including maintenance recommendations
- Facilitate vehicle orders for teams and projects
- Handle DOT registrations and respond to inquiries
- Participate in equipment facility safety programs, including environmental surveys and Mortenson's Zero Injury policy
- Dispatch and schedule equipment deliveries, including logistics planning
- Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree and 1+ years of rental equipment, construction, and/or related professional experience, or 2+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy
- Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple customer needs
- Working knowledge of purchasing/rental processes
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Ability to influence, active listening, and effective communication; open to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel 100%
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Experience with billing software (preferred)

- Salary: $69,500 – $93,900 per year
