Job title: Equine Therapy Assistant
About the Role Patou serves as a therapeutic riding partner at UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center. The Equine Therapy Assistant role focuses on supporting riders during sessions, maintaining a calm, safe environment, and preserving Patou's welfare to help riders progress to greater independence.
What You'll Do
- Support riders during therapeutic sessions, helping them feel safe and confident on Patou.
- Observe riders and adjust pace (slower pace for safety, peppy trot if requested).
- Assist with tack, grooming, and basic horse care; ensure Patou's base of support for riders.
- Collaborate with instructors and therapists to tailor sessions to rider goals.
- Maintain safety protocols and communicate effectively with riders and staff.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with horses and comfort around equine therapy environments.
- Calm, patient, and supportive demeanor; strong communication skills.
- Ability to monitor rider safety and adapt pace to individual needs.
- Team player with a passion for helping riders progress toward independence.
Nice to Have
- Experience in therapeutic riding programs or equine-assisted therapies.
- Familiarity with using horses as tools for rider progression.
