About the Role Environmental Services Technician I - Per Diem at The Jackson Laboratory supports cleaning of JAX properties to promote the health and safety of visitors and staff. Under moderate supervision, this role includes custodial and housekeeping tasks, including on-campus Conference Center services. Shifts are primarily Monday–Friday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with some seasonal weekend availability; scheduling is flexible.

What You'll Do

• Sweep, mop (dry-wet), spot-clean and/or vacuum floors
• Clean restrooms and restock supplies
• Gather and empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers
• Move/lift furniture and equipment
• Handle bio-waste and/or recycling materials
• Clean ceiling vents, horizontal/vertical surfaces, glass/mirrors, etc.
• Notify management of deficiencies or repair needs; perform minor equipment adjustments/repairs; maintain equipment; restock supply area; support special projects
• Housekeeping services: changing bed linens, laundry, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to understand written/verbal instructions and communicate effectively
• Ability to follow Federal, State, and JAX safety rules and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment as task require (PPE)
• Ability to lift 25 lbs independently
• Successful completion of JAX Environmental Services Technician training program (Basics of Cleaning and Restroom Care within one year of hire; score of 75% or higher)
• Self-motivated with the ability to organize time effectively, demonstrated ability to manage details and provide excellent client service skills
• Effective interpersonal skills sufficient to permit incumbent to work effectively with a wide variety of people and personalities representing both internal clients and external suppliers
• Part-time status and flexibility to discuss hours; may require occasional travel for training or project support including work at the Ellsworth campus or other JAX properties
• Able to enter electronic time and respond to email within 1 month of hire

• Willingness to travel occasionally to Ellsworth campus or other JAX properties (if not already covered above)

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate: $19.00 - $19.50 USD
• Part-time / Per Diem; Shifts primarily Monday–Friday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with some seasonal weekend availability; scheduling is flexible.
