Job title: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Manager

About the Role Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager (EH&S) at Spartanburg, SC corrugated facility will own the EHS strategy, driving a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement. You will report to the Director of Operations and collaborate with leaders, engineers, and employees to protect people, the environment, and the business. This onsite role offers autonomy to lead, innovate, and create long-term value within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to achieve a proactive EHS culture through management engagement and employee ownership.
  • Align plant-level safety and environmental programs with enterprise vision and regulatory expectations.
  • Manage and maintain environmental permits, documentation, and compliance reporting (air, stormwater, etc.).
  • Lead risk assessment processes to proactively identify and address hazards—enhancing critical hazard awareness and minimizing risk.
  • Champion a strong safety culture through mentoring, coaching, and collaboration across all levels.
  • Build and support EHS training and development systems that ensure continuous learning and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate the safety committee and change management processes, helping the team respond effectively to evolving safety standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) role in a manufacturing, industrial, or military setting.
  • Experience with OSHA standards and EH&S regulatory compliance.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience leading safety training, audits, and management of compliance documentation.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Safety.
  • Experience managing environmental permitting and regulatory reporting (air, stormwater, etc.).
  • Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring (e.g., noise, dust, carbon monoxide).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Experience in corrugated manufacturing or paper converting environments.
  • Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) practices.
  • Experience in key risk areas such as Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO), mobile equipment, and pedestrian safety.
