About this role
About the Role As the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator in Kingston, ON, you will help ensure compliance with EHS regulations during testing and commissioning of Alstom equipment and trains, contributing to safer and more sustainable rail projects. You will work closely with permit offices, supervisors, employees, contractors, and the prime contractor to uphold safety and environmental standards on site. What You'll Do
- Conduct inspections and monitoring of on-site activities
- Oversee work permits and ensure compliance
- Provide risk assessment support to employees and contractors
- Coach supervisors to promote safety leadership
- Deliver EHS inductions for employees and contractors
- Manage contractors and ensure readiness
- Lead EHS committee meetings and broadcast monthly toolbox talks
- Investigate accidents and implement follow-up actions
- Qualify and monitor contractor EHS documentation
- Implement emergency measures and first aid protocols
- Take immediate action to stop high-risk activities that pose risks to people or the environment What We're Looking For
- University degree in Environment, Health, and Safety or related field
- Health & Safety qualification recognized by local authorities
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety with construction-site exposure
- Strong leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong written English communication
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO45001
- Understanding of local EHS regulatory requirements
- Key competencies: teamwork, leadership, interpersonal skills, initiative, analytical thinking, continuous improvement Nice to Have
- Experience in project-based environments (asset)
