About the Role GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking an Entry Level Site-Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Team in Syracuse, New York. The successful candidate should have a strong academic record, solid understanding of civil engineering fundamentals, and a desire to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects both in the office and in the field. The role focuses on site design and stormwater management components of energy projects, with opportunities to contribute to traditional site development and natural resources projects.

What You'll Do

  • Develop site-civil engineering design work including site features and layout, grading, utilities, erosion and sediment controls, and stormwater management design.
  • Conduct civil and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and calculations for review by senior staff.
  • Prepare SWPPPs and stormwater drainage reports for review by senior staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction and bid documents including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Perform field tasks such as site reconnaissance, SWPPP inspections, and construction observation.
  • Participate in a team environment to deliver high-quality services to clients, including assisting on projects outside primary responsibilities as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or related field of practice required.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year; desire to obtain Professional Engineer license.
  • Effective communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings; ability to read and understand design drawings and relate them to construction activities.
  • Ability to work locally and regionally, including infrequently for overnight stays; valid driver's license.
  • Strong computer skills including a solid foundation in MS Office applications; experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or HydroCAD preferred.
  • One to three years of relevant experience preferred.

Nice to Have

  • OSHA 10-hour Construction training is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The base salary for this position may range between $66,500 and $85,400.
