About the Role Entry-level production support role in Buffalo, NY, supporting MacLean-Fogg's manufacturing operations. You will maintain equipment, perform chip cleanup, inspect parts for quality, and assist with general labor tasks.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safe and clean work area per 6S standards; refer unusual or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Ensure proper documentation and communications to support efficient coordination between shifts and departments (quality, engineering, maintenance).
- Assist with chip management: exchange chip and swarf carts, operate chip spinner(s), pick up bar ends, scrap, filter bags, oily cardboard; drain, clean out, and refill machines, washers, dip tanks; operate cleanout cart; drain oil from drip pans/skids; manage storage and distribution of cutting oils.
- Perform general labor tasks: inside/outside cleanup, property maintenance, scraping and painting, straightening and organizing.
- For bench inspection: basic gauging/instrument knowledge; inspect parts (visual and dimensional) with a 100% sort standard; record and maintain inspection data; hand load and hand pack; simple hand assembly; deburr by hand or using equipment like belt sander, wire wheel, push/pull motor, or other similar equipment.
- Work with maintenance and other teams; orient when requested by supervisor; lead when mutually agreed.
What We're Looking For
- Basic knowledge of gauging and instruments; ability to understand direct/simple instructions for equipment use (e.g., eddy current).
- 100% part sorting for visual and dimensional defects with high standards of quality.
- Ability to perform hand assembly and simple deburring; operate tools such as belt sander and wire wheel.
- Ability to comply with 6S standards; work with cross-functional teams; follow written procedures.
Nice to Have
- Basic knowledge of gauging and instruments; familiarity with eddy current.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting and handling of chip cleanup and tooling maintenance (as described).
