About this role
About the Role As part of the MSI System Application Engineer team, the Enterprise Software Developer designs and builds robust integrations bridging MSI business-unit applications — such as License Plate Recognition cameras — with Video Management Systems and Vehicle Intelligence platforms. Working within full-stack Agile Scrum teams, you will contribute to the development, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management of these integrations to deliver end-to-end solutions that keep people and assets safe. What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and test end-to-end solutions and high-quality integrations between MSI applications and VMS/Vehicle Intelligence platforms.
- Build scalable, high-performance backend systems and robust integrations as part of distributed services.
- Collaborate within full-stack Agile Scrum teams and participate in development, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Identify technical risks and propose scalable, innovative solutions to improve performance and reliability. What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in backend development (e.g., C#, C++, or similar systems-level languages).
- Experience with large-scale data systems and performance optimization (database design, query efficiency, caching).
- Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Experience debugging and optimizing high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Solid understanding of Windows and Linux-based development environments.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Nice to Have
- Experience with video systems, computer vision, or AI/ML pipelines (e.g., License Plate Recognition).
- Familiarity with image processing or handling large binary data (images in databases vs. object storage).
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and modern build systems.
- Knowledge of cloud-connected systems and hybrid edge/cloud architectures.
- Experience with NoSQL or embedded databases (e.g., Berkeley DB).
- Ability to quickly understand complex existing systems and improve them.
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially for diagnosing performance bottlenecks.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams (Camera, AI, platform teams). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: CAD 120,000 – 145,000 per year.
