Job title: Enterprise Data Architect
About the Role The Enterprise Data Architect defines, governs, and advances the enterprise data architecture to support trusted reporting, analytics, AI, and institutional decision-making across the university's data landscape. This role sets architectural direction for the modern data platform, including data integration patterns, medallion architecture, data modeling standards, metadata and lineage practices, data quality expectations, master/reference data patterns, and secure, scalable data product design. The position spans major ERP and administrative systems (Oracle/PeopleSoft Catalyst SIS, SAP S/4HANA UC Flex HR-Finance, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Workforce Central/timekeeping integrations) and collaborates with data engineering, analytics, enterprise applications, ERP/SIS/CRM, InfoSec, governance, institutional research, business stakeholders, and technology leadership to ensure reliable, reusable, and enterprise-aligned data solutions; leadership across Snowflake, Informatica, cloud data services, APIs, SaaS platforms, Oracle/SAP domains, Salesforce CRM, and emerging AI-ready capabilities. This is a hybrid role.
What You'll Do
- Define standards for naming, describing, managing, modeling, cleansing, enriching, transforming, moving, storing, searching and delivering all enterprise data.
- Serve as liaison between governance and data consumer representatives and data solution development teams.
- Inform and interpret data project sponsors; understand data usage implications on people, processes, products and technology.
- Provide framework, stewardship, governance, and decision-making for data management across project teams, business users, and stakeholders.
- Balance short-term vs long-term actions; strategic vs tactical requirements while progressing toward the strategic vision.
- Develop enterprise data management methodology and standards; promote to technology and business across the university.
- Put processes around metadata to ensure integrated definitions, data accuracy, validity, and reusability.
- Participate in developing consistent definitions for common reference data and master data management.
- Establish measures to track metadata completeness and quality; support reduction of data redundancy and fragmentation, elimination of unnecessary data movement, and improvement of data quality.
- Provide input on large-scale projects and roadmaps for compatibility with the data vision.
- Drive selection of data management tools and develop standards, usage guidelines, and procedures for those tools.
- Define processes to resolve cross-organizational data management issues.
- Coordinate with other enterprise and application architects across operational systems.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; or seven (7) years of relevant work experience in lieu of education.
- Three (3) years of related experience.
- Additional Qualifications Considered:
- Understanding of business, functional and data modeling across various industries like Enterprise Software, High Tech, and others.
- Experience in a higher education environment.
- In-depth experience of Enterprise Data Modeling including Enterprise Data Warehouse and Messaging models.
- Practitioner of architecture principles, able to lead an organization through transformation via large-scale projects that impact master data, transactional data, and BI.
