Job Description:

Are you passionate about shaping how organisations use, govern and evolve their data? Does the idea of working with retail, consumer-facing, public sector and regulated clients to turn complex business needs into clear data strategies, domain models and sustainable architectures excite you? If yes, then read on!

We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping enterprise data architecture and strategy for our clients, with a particular focus on customer data. You will define data domains, information structures, modelling standards and transition roadmaps that connect business outcomes to governed, implementable data solutions, including a trusted and joined-up view of the customer across channels.

This is a senior role for someone who can set architectural direction, advise senior stakeholders and lead complex areas of delivery while working closely with data platform architects, engineers, governance specialists, marketing technology consultants and business teams.

Responsibilities/Skills

  • Proven experience (8+ years) in enterprise data architecture, information architecture, data modelling and data strategy, with knowledge in delivering customer data solutions

  • Experience defining data domains and conceptual, logical and physical data models that align business concepts with technology implementation, including canonical, domain and analytical models and patterns for customer, shared and reference data

  • Experience designing identity resolution and single customer view approaches and integrating customer data from multiple channels and source systems to support personalisation and customer analytics

  • Ability to shape and articulate data strategies aligned to business outcomes, measurable value and wider enterprise architecture

  • Experience defining enterprise data architecture principles, standards and models, and maintaining architecture artefacts within enterprise repositories

  • Experience defining data strategy and modelling transition roadmaps, including sequencing, dependencies and pragmatic incremental delivery

  • Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship and federated operating models, including the responsibilities associated with governed data products

  • Experience applying data management disciplines including governance, data quality, metadata and lineage, with a strong emphasis on traceability and auditability

  • Experience designing data architectures that meet regulatory, privacy, security and compliance requirements, including data classification and control models

  • Experience designing consent, preference and privacy by design into customer data architectures

  • Experience defining and supporting data migration strategies, including source-to-target mappings, reconciliation, data quality controls and phased cutover

  • Understanding of how domain and data models translate into physical cloud implementations, including schemas, pipelines, lakehouse and warehouse patterns

  • Experience working with business stakeholders, including marketing and customer experience teams, to capture data requirements and translate them into data architecture designs and well-defined data products

  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts and modelling trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences, and to influence senior stakeholders across complex organisational and technology landscapes

  • Proven ability to lead multiple, complex areas of work to time, cost and quality with minimal direction, managing competing priorities and acting as a key point of escalation

  • Experience mentoring architects, analysts and engineers

  • You will be required to hold active SC clearance for this role.

Desirable skills

  • Retail, consumer, public sector or regulated industry experience (government, healthcare, financial services or similar)

  • Experience with customer data platforms and CRM data models, such as Salesforce or Adobe

  • Knowledge of modern cloud data platforms and Spark-based ecosystems, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake or equivalent

  • Experience supporting the implementation of domain-oriented lakehouse, warehouse or data-product architectures

  • Working knowledge of TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture frameworks

  • Awareness of relevant industry data, interoperability and messaging standards

  • Familiarity with data modelling and architecture tools and repositories

  • Familiarity with SQL and data serialisation or interface formats

  • Data management or architecture certification, such as CDMP, DCAM, TOGAF or an equivalent qualification

  • Cloud platform architecture certification, with a data specialism beneficial

  • Experience using AI or Agentic techniques in application of the role through GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent.
