About the Role Join Wayland Baptist University as an Enrollment Coach/Advisor at the Lubbock campus to recruit, advise, and support academically qualified students. The role focuses on building recruitment and advising relationships, guiding degree planning, and coordinating with campus offices to ensure student success and alignment with the university's mission.

What You'll Do

  • Focus on recruiting prospective students for the Lubbock campus within a 90-mile radius.
  • Make recruitment presentations to groups outside the University.
  • Advise students and prospective students to help them understand educational options.
  • Prepare official degree plans in a timely manner and provide accurate information.
  • Assist in registering students by placing them in courses which match degree plan requirements.
  • Identify students who are eligible to graduate and provide graduation requirements to those not yet ready.
  • Monitor student degree plans, correct mistakes, and assist with course sequencing.
  • Advise on educational issues such as course/program selection, class scheduling, school adjustment, study habits, and career planning.
  • Help students identify sources of financial aid and provide access to grants, loans, and scholarships.
  • Assist with financial aid applications and online services; work closely with the Financial Aid Office and Plainview Business Office regarding student account status.
  • Collaborate with the Graduate Programs Office, Registrar’s Office, Admissions Office, Finance Office, and other departments to resolve questions and issues.
  • Enforce administration policies and resolve problems or propose solutions with the Lubbock Assistant Executive Director.
  • Assist in development/implementation of policies and procedures to fulfill campus/university mission.
  • Assist in campus graduations and registrations.
  • Address community groups, faculty, and staff to explain available services.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the university mission.
  • Acknowledge that duties are not a complete list and may include other related tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lubbock Assistant Executive Director/Dean.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Experience advising students in an academic setting preferred; customer service experience required; knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures preferred; understanding of team/servant leadership concepts.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of advising principles, methods, and procedures; knowledge of academic degree plans and requirements; general accounting knowledge and collection procedures desired but not required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication; excellent listening; ability to actively help people; strong critical thinking; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to read and understand written information; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; detail-oriented and well-organized; ability to follow directions and cooperate with others.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures preferred.
  • Understanding of team/servant leadership concepts.
  • Experience advising and collaborating across university departments.

  • Employment is subject to an introductory period. ICE documentation may be required within three days of hire. Travel and teaching at external campuses may be required. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
