About the Role The role manages and provides market-facing underwriting capabilities across the Engineering and Surety portfolios, delivering our customer value proposition and driving profitable growth through underwriting plans, portfolio strategies, and go-to-market approaches.

What You'll Do

• Conduct in-depth portfolio analysis to assess performance, identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities, and make strategic recommendations considering market dynamics.
• Work closely with actuaries, claims professionals, and other departments to ensure portfolio strategy aligns with broader company objectives.
• Collaborate with intermediaries to negotiate terms, gather feedback, and gauge market dynamics.
• Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing accounts to drive growth through new and existing distribution channels.
• Provide input on portfolio strategy, product development, and system enhancements.
• Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority.
• Support sales culture by serving as a Help Point for Market Management Team, Agents, Brokers, Partners, and Customers.
• Assure development and implementation of policy, procedures and standards to produce profitable results.
• Be responsible for all portfolio data quality.
• Support the development of other Underwriters.
• Pipeline Management: manage referrals and technical questions from direct reports and branches; actively participate within Zurich’s network; develop processes and review policies relevant to underwriting to ensure alignment with strategic objectives; manage relationships with key internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for service improvement to ensure commercial viability and customer satisfaction; contribute to the business strategy within the area to align underwriting with wider business goals; participate in the community of global/regional proposition development practitioners to share best practice; constantly review portfolio performances to ensure financial metrics are met; manage relationships with Country and Regional Underwriting teams.

What We're Looking For

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree or Post-graduate qualifications; typically has at least 10 years of Engineering underwriting experience.
• Proven ability to develop and execute on strategic plans and company initiatives.
• Experience in leading underwriting teams.
• Proven strong market-facing presence in local market and industry network.
• Proven track record of growing a business and change management in a complex environment.
