About the Role Canonical is building an engineering organization to shape the future of open source. You can apply based on your field or position level, and we'll find the right role for you. You can also explore specific roles across Kernel, Low-level system engineering, Python, Golang, and Rust, as well as DevRel and leadership tracks.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to open-source projects across the Ubuntu platform, from kernel to applications, with emphasis on security, correctness, reliability, performance, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams to design, implement, and deliver high-quality software.
- Engage with the open-source community and developers to foster collaboration, advocacy, and adoption of Canonical's projects.

- A track record of exceptional software development and a passion for open-source values.
- Flexibility to explore multiple technology areas (kernel, Python, Go, Rust) and levels (Graduate to Director) and to work in dynamic environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to operate with distributed teams and communities.
Nice to Have
- Experience spanning diverse aspects of software development and operations; willingness to take on leadership or management responsibilities as you progress.
- Interest in field engineering opportunities (on-site travel) or other roles that involve community engagement and DevRel.
