Join Telavox as an Engineering Manager
We're looking for an Engineering Manager who wants to establish a new function in an environment of rapid growth, someone who can earn trust across engineering teams they don't manage and knows when to add structure and when to stay out of the way. You'll combine hands-on technical credibility with the judgment to know how much rigor a given moment actually needs.
If you enjoy building structure for things teams already are working with on their own, working across team boundaries, and helping engineers get better at owning what they ship, this is your opportunity to shape how Telavox runs production.
About the job
Production Engineering (PE) builds lasting structure around how Telavox runs production: reliability standards, on-call setup, and change/release management. These aren't new topics for us; what's new is the dedicated ownership we're building around them, starting with you. Your role will be to open the ground here, prioritising whichever area you can move fastest on first.
You'll work across teams you don't manage day-to-day, building the standards and processes that let engineering teams run production more reliably and change it more safely. Telavox supports operators across the Nordics and globally, and as we bring on more of them, keeping things reliable while we change them safely becomes strategically critical to how we scale. We expect this function to grow into a team over time.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Mapping today's practices (on-call, incident follow-up, release/change process) and turning what you find into a concrete starter kit or standards
- Owning the reliability foundation: error-budget accounting, paging, and runbook platforms
- Shepherding change and release practice, including our operator-facing change interface
- Working closely with engineering teams and their managers to drive adoption without direct authority over their roadmaps
- Identifying where AI-assisted tooling can meaningfully reduce toil (e.g., incident/RCA tooling)
About you
You're comfortable being one of the first names on a small, high-trust function, building credibility through hands-on delivery rather than a large team underneath you from day one. You may come from an SRE, incident management, or production engineering background, or from a release/change management and process background with strong technical grounding.
Key skills and experience we're looking for:
- Experience with production reliability practices (SLIs/SLOs, incident management, on-call) and/or change & release management in a live, customer-facing platform
- Comfortable driving standards and adoption across teams you don't formally manage
- Confident operating with ambiguity: the structure around this work is still taking shape
- Solid technical grounding, enough to be credible in incident command or architecture-adjacent conversations
- Strong communicator, able to work with engineering teams, EMs, and external operator counterparts alike
- Experience from a SaaS or B2B environment, ideally having felt firsthand where formal change-board processes cause pain or friction
