WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

SimCorp is establishing Foundational APIs to make core business data and functionality securely, consistently, and reliably available across products and solutions.

This is a founding role in India. You will build the team, establish its engineering culture, and lead delivery of its first production capabilities.

We seek an Engineering Manager who remains an engineer at heart. This is not a purely administrative role. You should understand complex systems, challenge assumptions, and help the team make sound technical decisions while succeeding primarily through others.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Build and lead the India team, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, development, and retention.
• Create a culture of technical excellence, ownership, curiosity, collaboration, inclusion, and psychological safety.
• Lead delivery from discovery through production adoption and ongoing operation.
• Translate strategic objectives into a roadmap with milestones, dependencies, risks, and ownership.
• Remain technically engaged in architecture, API design, trade-offs, and significant implementation decisions.
• Ensure APIs represent clear business capabilities rather than internal system complexity.
• Promote pragmatic reuse and challenge unnecessary abstraction and duplication.
• Establish engineering practices across design, coding, testing, security, documentation, observability, and production operations.
• Apply situational leadership and protect the team from unnecessary organizational noise.
• Partner with Principal and Lead Engineers while keeping implementation ownership within the team.
• Clarify ownership for semantics, source data, contracts, implementation, reliability, and support.
• Collaborate across Application Foundation, Platform, Architecture, Product, Data, Security, and domain teams

• Engineer at heart with substantial software-development experience.
• Experience leading, hiring, and growing software engineering teams.
• Track record delivering secure, reliable, production-grade software.
• Technical depth to challenge architecture and implementation constructively.
• Strong C#/.NET and backend engineering knowledge, with experience across APIs, cloud, testing, CI/CD, observability, and distributed systems.
• Ability to navigate distributed ownership, influence across boundaries, and communicate clearly.
• Personal accountability and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.

GOOD TO HAVE

• Financial systems, capital markets, investment management, or another regulated domain.
• Establishing a new engineering team or capability.
• Platform capabilities used by multiple products.
• Familiarity with SimCorp One, SimCorp Dimension, or comparable platforms.

AI-ENABLED DEVELOPMENT

• Use approved AI tools in discovery, development, testing, and documentation.
• Critically evaluate AI-generated artifacts for correctness, security, maintainability, and architectural fit.
• Apply the same engineering, testing, security, and review standards to AI-assisted contributions.
