About the Role Databricks SQL Control Plane team is seeking an Engineering Manager to spearhead the development of a new service and architecture for the next generation of our product. You will lead a team of engineers, guide cloud-native, low-latency, multi-tenant systems, and help define the product and engineering roadmap. This role emphasizes leadership, architectural direction, and delivering scalable cloud services.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of software engineers to build the next-generation low-latency, multi-tenanted, cloud-native data warehousing system.
- Grow the team by hiring strong engineering talent.
- Lead and participate in technical, product and design discussions related to cloud-native database systems.
- Manage and operate a highly available service in the cloud.
- Grow leaders on the team through coaching, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
- Play a key role in defining the product and engineering roadmap for the team.
- Partner with other engineering and product leaders on planning, prioritization, and staffing.
- Create a culture of excellence on the team while leading with empathy.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years experience working in database systems, data processing or related domains.
- Experience building highly available cloud services on AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Building, growing and managing high-performance teams.
- Experience defining and meeting SLOs for highly available systems.
- Ability to attract and hire engineers who meet Databricks hiring standards.
- Comfort working cross functionality with product management and partners to build products that drive user growth.

Compensation & Benefits
- Zone 1 Pay Range: $190,000—$261,250 USD.
- The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
