About the Role
As an Engineering Manager in the Core Experiences Platform Org, you will build and operate highly available and scalable platforms which serve multiple products, enabling Databricks to scale across geographic regions and clouds. You will lead the team responsible for core assets such as Workspaces, Notebooks, SQL queries, and the serving infrastructure that powers multiple user experiences. This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Engineering and is central to Databricks' growth in Bengaluru, India.
What You'll Do
- Hire great engineers to build an outstanding team.
- Support engineers in their career development by providing clear feedback, as well as developing engineering leaders.
- Ensure high technical standards by instituting processes (architecture reviews, testing) and culture (engineering excellence).
- Work with engineering and product leadership to build a long-term roadmap.
- Coordinate execution and collaborate with multiple product teams with feature requests from the platform.
- Build and operate highly available and scalable platforms serving multiple products across regions and clouds.
What We're Looking For
- Great at hiring and developing talent, especially leadership.
- Great at creating efficient processes that increase velocity and quality.
- 2+ years of experience in managing teams that build and operate high-volume distributed systems in a SaaS environment.
- 5+ years of experience with distributed systems and building platforms and services which serve multiple product teams and customers.
- Experience scaling engineering teams from 5 to 20+.
- Team player who will work with other departments (PM, CS) and engineering teams.
- BS or higher in Computer Science, or a related field.
