About this role
About Brelle
Energy for what moves us.
Brelle is a venture-backed technology company building the next generation of energy and powertrain systems for the world’s most demanding machines. Our team comes from companies like Rivian, SpaceX, and McLaren, bringing deep expertise in high-performance engineering, electrification, and advanced manufacturing.
Brelle develops frontier technology that pushes what’s possible in electrified performance. Based in California, we develop next-generation energy and powertrain technology for supercars and superbikes, working alongside leading high-performance brands across the U.S. and Europe.
Our innovations are built on a novel pack architecture, a full-stack software platform, and an advanced approach to automated production. Joining Brelle means working on technology that makes the world’s most demanding vehicles and aircraft lighter, safer, more engaging, and capable of charging in minutes.
Our engineering teams operate like small Skunkworks teams: nimble, cross-functional, and highly technical. Engineers are encouraged to explore new concepts and materials, move quickly from concept to prototype, and have significant autonomy to develop, validate, and release their work across programs.
We’re building something ambitious in a highly competitive market, and the bar is high. We need people who are exceptional at what they do, take real ownership, and are willing to do what the moment requires.
About the Opportunity
Brelle welcomes applications from students interested in internship and co-op opportunities across engineering and related technical disciplines. This posting provides a centralized opportunity for us to connect with promising early-career talent and consider candidates for placements aligned with our evolving project and team needs.
As an intern or co-op student, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge to real engineering challenges, contribute to the development of next-generation energy and powertrain systems, and learn alongside a team working at the forefront of electrified performance.
We’re looking for curious, driven individuals who enjoy solving difficult problems, take ownership of their work, and thrive in a fast-moving, hands-on engineering environment.
Areas of Opportunity
Depending on your background, technical interests, and the needs of the team, opportunities may span areas such as:
-
Mechanical Engineering & CAD: Create and update 3D models, assemblies, detailed 2D engineering drawings, and mechanical designs; support design iteration and development.
-
Electrical Engineering: Support electrical design, component integration, wiring and harnesses, and related electrical systems.
-
Systems Engineering: Contribute to system architecture, requirements development, component integration, and cross-functional engineering coordination.
-
Prototyping, Testing & Validation: Support prototype builds, test setup and execution, data collection, troubleshooting, and design validation.
-
Manufacturing & Production Engineering: Contribute to design for manufacturability, assembly processes, tooling, production methods, and process improvement.
-
Software & Controls: Support embedded systems, controls, data analysis, automation, and software development for energy and powertrain systems.
Specific responsibilities will depend on the placement, your skills, and the projects you support. Not every area will have an active opening at all times.
What You'll Bring
-
Current enrollment in a college or university program in engineering or a related technical discipline.
-
Strong technical fundamentals and a genuine interest in building, testing, and improving real-world systems.
-
A hands-on, analytical approach to solving challenging problems, with a willingness to question assumptions and explore better solutions.
-
Initiative, attention to detail, and a willingness to take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
-
The ability to collaborate across disciplines, communicate openly, and consider the broader team’s needs while making meaningful progress independently.
-
The ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and contribute in a fast-moving environment.
Relevant technical projects, personal builds, research, laboratory experience, CAD proficiency, programming experience, or previous internships are valuable. Experience with engineering design, prototyping, manufacturing processes, or design for manufacturability may be particularly relevant, depending on the placement.
We’re interested in what you’ve built, how you approach problems, and how you apply your skills—not just what’s listed on your resume.
Internship & Co-Op Details
Placements may be structured as internships or co-op terms, depending on the candidate’s academic program and the needs of the business. Placement duration, start date, schedule, and specific responsibilities will be determined based on the opportunity.
Candidates should indicate their field of study, technical interests, anticipated availability, and preferred placement duration when applying.
Compensation & Benefits
Internship and Co-Op placements are paid positions. Compensation will be determined based on the specific placement, relevant experience, and other applicable factors.
