Job title: Engineering Domain / Métier Department Head
About the Role Take the challenge of leading an engineering team as a Department Head to drive continuous improvement in performance and productivity. Define the métier vision, involve the team in its implementation, plan and grow expertise, and supervise and motivate team members daily. Communicate effectively across the organization to enable seamless and successful project execution and development commitments.
What You'll Do
- Define and implement engineering vision (team profile, skills, and technology evolution) and set department competitiveness targets
- Set clear team goals, delegate tasks, and establish deadlines
- Provide support to project/program execution and actively participate in tender and design activities
- Promote Alstom values and foster open, constructive communication within the team
- Motivate, evaluate, recognize, and develop resources in cooperation with HR per approved performance processes
- Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments; develop World Class Engineering experts
- Ensure deployment of processes, methods, and tools within scope; contribute to their improvement
- Contribute to Reference Library (cost structure & cost drivers) and align with solution roadmaps
- Foster collection and sharing of Lessons Learned from projects/programs
- Review workload forecasts and capacity; plan staffing, subcontracting, and footprint objectives
- Participate in tender/Design Reviews and Documentation Reviews as per strategy
- Commit to Project/Program/Tender Quality Cost Delivery for the Métier/domain
What We're Looking For
- Educational requirements: Mandatory Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects; Desirable Master’s Degree in Engineering or related topics; Degree in Management or team-leading training is an asset
- Experience: Proven experience in a complex development environment (railways, automotive, aerospace) with engineering/process background; experience in project/program execution and management; understanding of effort estimation; involvement with teams across Regional/Development Centers
- Competencies & Skills: Excellent communication and leadership; open-minded; strong organization and time-management; sound decision-making; English proficiency
Nice to Have
- Metier-specific background and cross-center project involvement; management training or degree is an asset
