George Houston Resources Limited - Our client, SWAP Technologies is a Lagos-based EV infrastructure company building a battery-swapping network for commercial tricycles, minibuses and other first- and last-mile transport vehicles in Nigeria.

They are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Engineering Assistant

Location: Lagos - Engineering Lab, Workshop, Conversion Sites & Test Locations

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose batteries, BMS faults, chargers, controllers, motors, sensors, connectors and other electrical/electromechanical components.
• Conduct voltage, current, continuity, charging, thermal and component performance tests.
• Identify faults and determine possible root causes.
• Document test results, findings, photographs and repair recommendations.
• Support decisions on whether components should be repaired, reused, quarantined, returned under warranty or scrapped.
• Assist with testing and validation of new EV kits and components before deployment.
• Support hardware R&D, battery-pack improvements, controller/motor testing and wiring/harness improvements.
• Identify recurring technical faults and provide recommendations to improve reliability and conversion quality.
• Follow strict safety procedures when working with lithium batteries and electrical systems.
• Prepare clear technical reports and provide practical guidance to technicians.

Requirements

• HND, BSc or strong technical diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics, Electronics or a related field.
• 1–3+ years of practical experience in electronics diagnosis, battery systems, EV systems, mechatronics, automotive electrical systems, laboratory testing or technical R&D.
• Good knowledge of batteries and electrical systems.
• Understanding of BMS, motors, controllers, sensors, power electronics, wiring harnesses and charging systems is an advantage.
• Ability to use tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, bench power supplies, soldering/rework tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to prepare clear technical reports.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Must be comfortable working between the lab, workshop and field locations.
