About the Role Abbott is seeking an Engineer II Product Analysis to perform failure analysis on explanted biomedical implant products. This role provides technical expertise to the Product Analysis Laboratory, analyzes failures, develops and implements investigative protocols to identify root causes, performs device and component level failure analysis, and supervises and coordinates a team of product support staff. This role is onsite at Sylmar, CA.
What You'll Do
- Perform failure analysis on explanted long term biomedical implant product.
- Apply theoretical principles, evaluation, ingenuity, and analytical techniques to identify root cause failure mechanisms.
- Meet deadlines on multiple assignments and operate in a diverse cross-functional team environment.
- Proactively identify quality improvements related to Failure Analysis.
- Lead and assign work to less experienced personnel; mentor staff solving complex problems.
- Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with Product Development and Engineering.
What We're Looking For
- Experience performing failure analysis on biomedical implants (explanted long-term devices preferred).
- Ability to develop and implement investigative protocols to identify root causes.
- Strong analytical, creative problem-solving skills; capable of meeting deadlines.
- Leadership capabilities: lead and mentor junior lab staff; conduct problem-solving in complex scenarios.
