About the Role Xylem is seeking an Engineer I in Chennai to create CAD drawings and 3D models for engineered products, collaborate with project engineers, and drive efficient product development. The role involves interpreting project requirements, designing clarifier systems, and maintaining documentation across ERP and modeling processes.

What You'll Do

• Create CAD Drawings and 3D models of Engineered Products, including overall layout, General Arrangement, Assembly and Fabrication Drawings for each project
• Read and understand complex design and drawing documents to meet project requirements
• Design Primary and Secondary Clarifier products referencing proposal documents, civil drawings, client GA, and site mark-ups
• Create Bills of Materials in ERP system
• Update model/GA drawings based on mark-ups and maintain project drawings for future reference
• Prepare write-ups on ECN/DCN; modify/improve modeling processes to reduce time
• Provide timely communications on significant issues
• Collaborate with Project Engineers to address technical decisions and execute development plans
• Take direction from Team Lead/Manager and fulfill assigned responsibilities
• Contribute as a team member to ensure timely, diligent, safe, and professional project work
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly workplace by following procedures
• Ensure the quality of the design and services

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Autocad certification and Autodesk Inventor certification
• I-Logic knowledge
• Vault or PLM & PDM experience
• Minimum 3-4 years of 3D CAD (Inventor) and AutoCAD experience
• Experience in water treatment or effluent treatment plant preferred
• Experience in preparing 2D GA drawings of Primary Clarifiers, Secondary Clarifiers, Thickeners, Orbals
• Experience in designing structural components like Pier assemblies, Cage assemblies, Truss assemblies, Platform assemblies, and tank weldment assemblies for Primary/Secondary Clarifiers and Thickeners/Orbals
• Experience in preparing Preliminary BOM-based 2D GA drawings
• Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
• PC literate with Microsoft Office; detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks

Nice to Have

• Experience in Water Treatment Industries or Effluent Treatment Plants preferred
