About the Role Entergy is seeking an Engineer I - Sr (Utility) to work onsite at our Jefferson, Louisiana location. The role involves meeting with customers to determine electric needs and performing planning, maintenance, and design engineering for routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties across grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, and safety. The position may support various project areas and root cause analysis to improve system performance and reliability.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical guidance to the Distribution Designers and local area line groups.
- Provide project management for all large projects including highway relocations, governmental projects, planned improvement and reliability projects.
- Review and recommend for approval electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards, and enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
- Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors, and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
- Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
- Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline from a four-year accredited institution (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial). Degrees in engineering technology with PE may be considered.
- Preferred: Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
- Minimum experience: Engineer I - 0 to 2 years; Engineer II - 2+ years; Engineer III - 4+ years.
- Technical mastery of engineering principles; in-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards; consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions; mentors other engineers and technical professionals; strong leadership and interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication; strong math and project management skills; proficient PC/software skills; familiar with NEC and National Electrical Code.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities; work well under pressure; safe work practices.
- Ability to recognize hazards and mitigate hazards; meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner; strong customer service; commitment to diversity and inclusive work environment; opportunity for process improvement and change.
- Travel up to 25%; Relocation option: Level II.
