Summary
The Engineer I – EIT is the entry-level classification in the Engineer series and performs professional engineering and project management work for a variety of Public Works projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, sewer and utility infrastructure, and related facilities.
Under the direction of senior engineering staff, the position manages projects from planning and design through permitting, bidding, construction, inspection, and completion. Responsibilities include preparing plans, cost estimates, and reports; coordinating with contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and the public; and supporting traffic safety, right-of-way, surveying, and infrastructure improvement activities.
