Job title: Engaged Learning & Art Gallery Graduate Assistant
About the Role The Engaged Learning & Art Gallery Graduate Assistant will split time between the First-Year Experience and Campus Art Galleries programs. This on-campus role supports the Coordinator of First-Year Student Experience and Director of Campus Galleries, providing daily operational support to three campus art gallery spaces and assisting with co-curricular programming and marketing for first-year CARD110 students. An ideal candidate will be able to manage and prioritize daily administrative and project support needs to advance campus engaged learning goals across assigned areas. The position is part-time, up to 20 hours per week (excluding academic breaks).
What You'll Do
- Mentor and supervise a team of 25-30 First-Year Mentors during the first 8 weeks of each semester, coordinating tasks and communication.
- Lead Marketing & Communications efforts to advertise CARD110 events and programming using digital and print methods; monitor/update Hub website, newsletters, visual marketing, website content, Hub page, and social media to support exhibitions, events, and FYE visibility.
- Perform clerical/administrative duties (contracts, scanning, digital file organization); maintain inventory and organization of materials, supplies, and records; manage event/training documents in Box and Canvas as needed.
- Research and collaborate with campus partners, archivists, and librarians to fulfill program needs, grant applications, or reporting requirements; support maintenance and expansion of program efforts.
- Provide project management & event support (planning event details, catering, setup/teardown); maintain program calendars and related schedules; develop templates for daily and annual tasks.
- Coordinate Cardinal Connections events: First-Year Function Series, Academic Department Reception (Fall), Engaged Learning Panel (Spring).
- Maintain physical spaces and event preparations: assist with setup/teardown; ensure cleanliness and presentation; coordinate space needs and material staging.
- Participate in development, revision, assessment, and delivery of training/workshops, communities of practice, student events, and related activities.
- Support Engaged Learning leadership and the NC Forward Strategic Plan alongside the Coordinator of First-Year Student Experience, Faculty Director of CARD110, and other EL teams as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Interest in engaged learning, campus programming, and art gallery operations; strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to supervise student teams (25-30 First-Year Mentors and 5-7 Gallery Assistants) and collaborate with campus partners.
- Experience with marketing/communications, logistics, scheduling, and event planning; proficient with digital media, website content, and social media.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, problem solving, and initiative.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Box, Canvas, Google Drive, and academic/arts programming on a college campus (as described in the role).
- Passion for art, education, and student development.
