About the Role A PRN EMT/First Responder role supporting USPIS Physical Fitness Exams by providing on-site safety monitoring and immediate Basic Life Support (BLS) response. This contract-like position requires readiness to work in three-hour blocks at various testing sites, typically in Tampa, FL. What You'll Do
- Set Up and Break Down: Prepare and dismantle testing environments at assigned locations to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
- Health Monitoring: Monitor applicant health status during testing activities, responding promptly to any medical incidents.
- Medical Care: Assess and monitor participants for signs of distress or injury; provide first aid and basic emergency care (e.g., CPR, bleeding control, splinting); request 911 on-site if needed and provide care until arrival.
- First Aid Kit Maintenance: Regularly check and maintain readiness of first aid kit, ensuring supplies are stocked and up to date.
- Incident Documentation: Document all medical incidents thoroughly and coordinate follow-up actions with the program's medical oversight team.
- Safety Implementation: Assist in implementing preventative measures and conducting safety checks before and during testing to minimize risks. What We're Looking For
- Current state EMT-B certification.
- 1–2 years of field experience responding to medical events in fitness, athletic, or occupational settings.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of injury prevention, physical exertion risks, and relevant treatment protocols.
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and demonstrate strong decision-making under pressure.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States. Nice to Have
- Ability and willingness to travel 0–10% for testing assignments. Compensation & Benefits
- Total hourly pay: $35.87 per hour (base $30.78 + $5.09 Health & Welfare) for up to 40 hours/week.
- This is a non-exempt, PRN role with potential for additional shifts as needed.
