Job title: Emergency Medical Technician/First Responder (PRN)
About the Role Provide on-site safety monitoring and immediate Basic Life Support (BLS) response during USPIS Physical Fitness Exams. The EMT/First Responder will operate as part of a testing team to ensure rapid, quality medical care and incident documentation. This is a PRN/on-call position with travel to testing sites as required.
What You'll Do
- Set Up and Break Down testing environments at assigned locations to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor applicant health status during testing activities, responding promptly to any medical incidents.
- Assess and provide first aid and basic emergency care (CPR, bleeding control, splinting); request 911 on-site support if needed and provide care until arrival.
- Regularly check and maintain the readiness of the first aid kit, ensuring all supplies are stocked and up to date.
- Document all medical incidents thoroughly and coordinate follow-up actions with the program’s medical oversight team to ensure comprehensive care and reporting.
- Assist in implementing preventative safety measures and conducting safety checks before and during testing to minimize risks and enhance applicant safety.
- Travel to testing sites as needed (0-10%).
What We're Looking For
- Current state EMT-B certification required.
- A minimum of 1–2 years of field experience responding to medical events in fitness, athletic, or occupational environments.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong knowledge of injury prevention, physical exertion risks, and relevant treatment protocols.
- Interpersonal skills: ability to maintain a calm demeanor and demonstrate strong decision-making skills under pressure.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $35.87 per hour for up to 40 hours per week (base $30.78 plus $5.09 per hour Health & Welfare).
