Job title: Emergency Medical Technician/First Responder (PRN)
About the Role EMT/First Responders (PRN) will provide on-site safety monitoring and immediate Basic Life Support response during USPIS Physical Fitness Exams. This role supports the USPS on-site medical oversight to ensure participant safety and timely care until arrival of emergency services.
What You'll Do
- Set up and dismantle testing environments at assigned locations to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor applicant health status during testing activities, responding promptly to any medical incidents.
- Provide first aid and basic emergency care (CPR, bleeding control, splinting), request 911 onsite if needed and provide care until arrival.
- Regularly check and maintain the readiness of the first aid kit, ensuring supplies are stocked and up to date.
- Document all medical incidents thoroughly and coordinate follow-up actions with the program's medical oversight team.
- Assist in implementing preventative safety measures and conducting safety checks before and during testing.
- Sessions are scheduled in three-hour blocks with the EMT typically working three hours per event.
- Travel 0-10%.
What We're Looking For
- Current state EMT-B certification.
- 1–2 years of field experience responding to medical events in fitness, athletic, or occupational environments.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of injury prevention, physical exertion risks, and relevant treatment protocols.
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and demonstrate strong decision-making skills under pressure.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
Compensation & Benefits
- Total hourly pay: $35.87 per hour for up to 40 hours per week (base $30.78 + $5.09 per hour Health & Welfare).
- This range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
