Job title: Embedded Software Engineer
About the Role Join Formlabs' Embedded team as an Embedded Software Engineer focused on firmware for cutting-edge 3D printers. You’ll design, build, test, and ship firmware and development tools that bridge software, hardware, and electronics, enabling new printer features and reliable product performance.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, test, and ship development tools and prototype code for your fellow R&D engineers working on new, unlaunched Formlabs products.
- Design, build, test and ship code for new printer features to tens of thousands of Formlabs devices in the field.
- Ensure code reuse with a strong focus on maintainability, testing and CI.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers to ensure we build the right features for our customers, existing and future.
- Work onsite in our Somerville, MA office.
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience writing code that lives on hardware products in the consumer, medical, defense, or industrial space (roughly 5 to 100 years).
- Proficiency with modern languages used for embedded software stacks, ideally in C, C++, and/or Python.
- Ability to architect code for embedded software patterns such as filtering, control loops, and remote procedure calls.
- Distill complex things simply when communicating with non-software stakeholders; ability to debug complex hardware/software interactions.
- Demonstrated commitment to writing maintainable, reusable code and working well in a team.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Javascript for occasional use.

Compensation Details
- Base pay range: $110,000—$150,000 USD per year.
- Equity in RSUs; total compensation includes equity and benefits.
