Job title: Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager

About the Role Canonical is hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services activities, helping customers with solution architecture, design and delivery. This remote role oversees a team in Americas, EMEA, or APAC and requires being located in one of those Geos.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop a team of Field engineers, ranging from graduate to senior, in Presales and Professional Services.
  • Solve customer problems by promoting our technologies and being a trusted advisor.
  • Drive solution architecture, design and delivery for embedded Linux projects across customer engagements.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineering and sales to align on strategy and execution.
  • Promote open source and edge compute approaches as part of Canonical's offering.
  • Develop colleagues in technology, time management, and understanding of customer business thinking for continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep Linux expertise and proficient coders/scripters.
  • Experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware and embedded software development methodologies.
  • Track record in field engineering, presales or professional services.
  • Leadership and team-building experience; ability to manage time and drive wins.
  • Comfortable working in a global, time-zone distributed environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IoT, edge computing, security requirements in embedded devices.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu ecosystem and secure update/management mechanisms.
  • Passion for mentoring colleagues and contributing to open-source communities.
