About the Role Full-time Elementary Education Specialist who teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary education with emphasis on educational assessment and STEM instruction. The faculty member provides leadership in curriculum development, teacher candidate assessment, accreditation initiatives, clinical experiences, and partnerships with P–12 schools. The successful candidate demonstrates expertise in evidence-based instructional practices that prepare future elementary educators to meet state and national standards while promoting equity, innovation, and student achievement. What You'll Do
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary education, including: Elementary Curriculum and Instruction; Assessment and Evaluation of Student Learning; STEM Methods for Elementary Classrooms; Mathematics and Science Methods; Classroom Assessment and Data-Driven Decision Making; Educational Technology Integration
- Deliver instruction using innovative, student-centered, and evidence-based teaching strategies
- Integrate technology and digital learning tools to enhance teacher candidate engagement and instructional effectiveness
- Teach Block II Courses: EED 430 Teaching Elementary Curriculum; EED 431 M/M Teaching Elementary Mathematics; EED 435 M/M Teaching Elementary Social Studies; EED 437 M/M Teaching Elementary Science
- Develop, implement, and evaluate candidate assessments aligned with state, institutional, and accreditation standards
- Collect, analyze, and report assessment data to support continuous program improvement
- Participate in accreditation activities, including preparation of reports and documentation for CAEP and state program approval
- Ensure assessments measure candidate proficiency related to professional standards and learning outcomes
- Design and implement STEM-focused learning experiences for teacher candidates
- Promote inquiry-based, project-based, and problem-based instructional approaches
- Integrate engineering design, computational thinking, and technology into elementary education coursework
- Support interdisciplinary STEM initiatives across educator preparation programs
- Supervise teacher candidates during field and clinical experiences
- Collaborate with mentor teachers and school administrators to support candidate development
- Evaluate teacher candidate performance using established assessment instruments
- Foster strong partnerships with local school districts
- Review and revise curriculum to reflect current research, state standards, and national best practices
- Develop new courses and instructional materials that strengthen elementary education and STEM preparation
- Participate in program assessment and curriculum mapping initiatives What We're Looking For
- Expertise in evidence-based instructional practices for elementary education and STEM instruction
- Ability to lead curriculum development, candidate assessment, accreditation initiatives, clinical experiences, and partnerships with P–12 schools
- Demonstrated experience with assessment design, data collection/analysis, and continuous program improvement
- Experience with integrating technology and digital learning tools; ability to design STEM-focused learning experiences and promote inquiry-, project-, and problem-based approaches
- Strong collaboration with mentor teachers and school administrators; experience supervising field and clinical experiences; evaluating candidate performance
- Commitment to equity, innovation, and student achievement; alignment with state and national standards
- Knowledge of CAEP accreditation processes and state program approval activities Nice to Have
- Experience with CAEP accreditation processes and state program documentation
- Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships with local school districts and P–12 schools
