Job title: Electronic Technician
About the Role Edgewell seeks an Electronic Technician to support production through the efficient diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment malfunctions. This role provides engineering assistance for installation, layout design, fabrication, and debugging of PLC-based systems and other industrial controls, and supports ongoing maintenance of production equipment.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment malfunctions; install and debug new equipment; modify for repairs.
- Provide engineering assistance for installation, layout design, fabrication, and debugging of PLC-based systems and other industrial controls.
- Support maintenance of production equipment and oversee startup/shutdown of department equipment per the production schedule.
- Assist the parts department in ensuring spare parts inventory of electronic components is available; perform shop repairs as needed.
- Communicate with vendors to update replacement parts; communicate process/mechanical abnormalities to Group Leader and Supervisor to facilitate timely corrections.
- Maintain production, batch, and quality records; ensure open communication with employees; maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Manage daily turnover communications between shifts; support quality control and quarantine of materials as required.
- Perform other duties as directed; comply with EH&S policies; participate in safety meetings; review Safety Data Sheets.
- Use required PPE; report injuries; assist investigations of accidents; maintain safe conditions.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years as Electronic Technician or equivalent education in the field.
- Must have working knowledge of control systems and programming languages used in industrial machinery; able to work from schematics, sketches, and written/verbal instructions.
- Proficient in using electrical (480V & under) / electronic test equipment for debugging and repairing solid-state equipment control (digital logic) systems.
- Able to perform maintenance around moving and idle equipment; travel throughout the plant; physical requirements including standing, walking, reaching, bending, crouching, awkward positions; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (lift assist for weights over 50 lbs.).
- Testing: Must prove satisfactory on validated STM Mechanic Task Series and Written Electronics Exam.
- Able to work overtime/alternate schedules as business needs dictate.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and efficiently complete assignments.
Nice to Have
- Associate Degree in Electromechanical, Electronics or similar field or 4-year equivalent Industrial and/or military electronics background.
