Job title: Electro-Mechanical Technician
About the Role The Electro-Mechanical Technician role supports day-to-day operations of all machines, equipment, and areas of the facility. They perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections, conduct breakdown analyses, provide technical assistance for reliability issues, assist with production equipment upgrades and rebuilds, and fabricate, modify, assemble and repair production components using various machining and metal fabrication tools. Tech 12 and/or Tech 14 may serve as backups for this position.
What You'll Do
- Ensure conformance to electrical codes & OSHA safety requirements for facility and production equipment, as well as Scholle IPN safety guidelines
- Provide mechanical and electrical skills in support of routine & preventive maintenance
- Support the shift maintenance team in problem solving & troubleshooting efforts
- Act as a problem solving & continuous improvement resource for PLC programming, variable speed drives, electrical & pneumatic controls, mechanical systems, etc.
- Troubleshoot & repair production machine equipment and systems
- Provide input to preventive & predictive maintenance efforts to improve overall equipment reliability
- Maintain maintenance laptop programs & files
- Demonstrate ability to maintain Cognex vision system
- Make electrical connections for most electrical devices; transfer electronic files from laptop to motor drives, Fanuc robotics, PLC and/or HMI
- Troubleshoot industrial equipment utilizing laptop viewing PLC ladder logic
- Interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, & mechanical schematics for troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot all industrial systems, such as electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, & mechanical
- Utilize electronic test equipment in troubleshooting (Multimeter, Oscilloscope, megger, circuit tracer, etc.)
- Support departmental standards for sanitation & housekeeping
- Support the introduction of new technology
- Display strong teamwork & communication skills with a hands-on, positive style
- Contribute ideas & support to capital planning, lean manufacturing, & continuous improvement initiatives
- Report food/product safety problems or risks to a supervisor or manager immediately, or take action if possible
- Perform PMs; utilize predictive analysis tools to identify and correct issues before they cause machine breakdowns
- Conduct breakdown analyses
- Lead annual PM optimization Kaizen events
- Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. Associates Degree in Industrial or Electrical Maintenance, Vocational Training Program, or equivalent work experience.
- SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Ability to work all shifts and perform overtime. Previous experience as an Electro-Mechanical technician preferred. Future training and/or education may be necessary to further job skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and Power Point presentations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate mean, median, and mode, and apply SPC to the quality processes. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Basic skill knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, and Virtual Client to perform effectively in daily activities. Ability to perform visual inspection process and successfully read and apply technical material including print specifications. Ability to solve problems by identifying root causes and developing alternative solutions.
