About the Role Syracuse University’s Facilities Services is seeking an Electrician 'A' to plan, install, maintain and repair a wide range of electrical equipment at the Syracuse campus. The role requires regular on-site presence to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the university’s campus environment. Remote work is limited by university policy.
What You'll Do
- Exercise judgment to plan and perform all work in the layout, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment of low and medium voltage.
- Repair or replace transformers, switchgear, power centers and associated control equipment, starters, motors, and power and lighting distribution systems, instruments and meters.
- Run conduit and wiring for various installations.
- Work from blueprints, schematic diagrams, determine material for jobs and order from distributor, etc.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced knowledge of the electrical trade equivalent to complete accredited apprentice training; at least three years of additional practical experience.
- Valid New York State driver's license with the ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles; SU Driver Safety Training completed.
- Must provide own hand tools including pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, Allen wrenches, channel locks, tape measures, etc.
- Knowledgeable of the National Electrical Codes.
- Physical capability to perform duties (standing long hours, bending, stooping, climbing, working at heights, and lifting as required); able to operate ladders, bucket trucks, and work in various environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $32.362 - $35.96 per hour.
