About this role
What you'll do
- As Electrical Quality Control Inspector, you’ll make sure the electrical backbone of Giga’s data centers is built right the first time. As the quality lead on site, you’ll set the standard for electrical work, hold the team to it, and give the Project Director confidence that every system is ready before it goes live. You’ll partner with contractors, vendors, and Engineering to turn quality into a part of how we build rather than something we check at the end, so we can deliver reliable infrastructure at speed.
Where you'll work
This is an on-site position that requires long term travel and/ or short term relocation. This person should be comfortable with 3-6 month periods of being at a location before moving to the next.
Responsibilities
-
Assist in the Development, implementation of site-specific electrical Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) program for data center construction projects.
-
Create and execute electrical Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including inspection hold points before installations are concealed, equipment is energized, or systems are released to commissioning.
-
Conduct ongoing field inspections to verify electrical construction complies with drawings, specifications, approved submittals, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
-
Inspect underground raceways, conduit, cable tray, grounding and bonding, equipment installations, cable pulls, and terminations.
-
Verify installation quality for medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and modular power equipment.
-
Review electrical subcontractor quality plans, test plans, installation procedures, and material submittals before construction activities; coordinate required approvals with Engineering.
-
Manage the electrical non-conformance report (NCR) process: identify deficiencies, issue NCRs, track corrective actions, and verify resolution before affected work proceeds.
-
Coordinate electrical testing firms, equipment vendors, and required third-party inspections; witness inspections and tests as required by the project.
-
Review installation and acceptance testing records, including torque documentation, insulation resistance results, grounding tests, cable tests, and equipment test reports.
-
Verify equipment condition at receipt and compliance with storage and preservation requirements throughout construction.
-
Maintain electrical QA/QC documentation, including inspection records, test reports, material certifications, installation checklists, and as-built markups.
-
Participate in design review and pre-construction meetings to identify electrical constructability issues and quality risks before they reach the field.
-
Support energization, commissioning, and turnover by verifying that electrical construction deficiencies are resolved and required quality documentation is complete.
-
Report electrical QA/QC metrics, unresolved deficiencies, and program status to the Project Director on a regular cadence.
Requirements
-
5+ years of experience in electrical construction QA/QC on commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
-
Direct experience developing and executing electrical ITPs and managing NCRs and deficiency tracking on active construction sites.
-
Strong working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical installations, including distribution equipment, raceways, cable tray, grounding and bonding, cabling, and terminations.
-
Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, installation details, specifications, and approved submittals.
-
Strong working knowledge of the NEC, manufacturer installation requirements, and applicable electrical testing standards.
-
Experience coordinating electrical inspections and acceptance testing with contractors, equipment vendors, testing firms, and applicable authorities.
-
Ability to review electrical test reports, identify unacceptable or incomplete results, and coordinate corrective action and retesting.
-
Proficiency in maintaining and organizing electrical quality documentation for energization, turnover, and closeout.
-
Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate technical deficiencies clearly to electrical subcontractors and project leadership.
-
Excellent written communication skills for producing NCRs, inspection reports, and quality status summaries.
Bonus points
-
Prior electrical QA/QC experience on data center, hyperscale, or mission-critical facility construction.
-
Experience with transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, busway, and modular electrical equipment.
-
Familiarity with NETA acceptance testing requirements, electrical commissioning, and functional performance testing.
-
Experience with factory acceptance testing and inspecting interfaces between factory-built equipment and field-installed electrical systems.
-
Experience with Procore or equivalent construction management platforms for quality tracking.
-
Electrical trade license, electrical inspector certification, NETA certification, or other relevant electrical credentials.
-
Background overseeing electrical quality across multiple simultaneous construction sites or programs.
