About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc. is seeking an Electrical Operator to manage generator operations, electrical switching, equipment monitoring, and power distribution activities safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and synchronise generators and perform 132kV and 11kV switching operations.
- Conduct risk assessments before electrical switching activities.
- Monitor and record generator operating parameters and report abnormalities.
- Investigate generator failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Inspect equipment, identify faults, and raise work requests.
- Supervise contracted work and maintain workshop housekeeping.
- Follow electrical safety procedures, including Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Requirements
- OND or Trade Test 3 Certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Knowledge of safety practices, power generation, and electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems.
- Hands-on experience with generators, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and electrical distribution systems.
- Experience in electrical switching, isolation, synchronisation, equipment restoration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with plant start-up, shutdown, emergency recovery, and safe isolation procedures.
