About the Role The School of Engineering and Physics at Southern Adventist University invites applications for a full-time teaching faculty member in electrical engineering. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate courses, oversee laboratories, mentor students, and integrate Seventh-day Adventist faith principles into teaching and student interactions.
What You'll Do
- Develop and teach general and specialized undergraduate engineering courses within the faculty member’s qualification areas, including lecture and laboratory components; may teach physics and support engineering courses.
- Maintain engineering laboratories, develop safety protocols and training for equipment use, and support students’ use of lab equipment for course and capstone projects.
- Advise and mentor students in academic, spiritual, and career development; sponsor student clubs, tours/trips, senior capstone projects, and special projects.
- Nurture a culture of collaboration within the School of Engineering and Physics and across the university through service on departmental and university committees.
- Practice professional and scholarly engagement; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related area required; Doctorate preferred.
- Prior higher education teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Must express commitment to Jesus Christ and the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; be an SDA church member in good standing and desire to serve.
- Ability to write and speak English fluently; capable of integrating Christian faith and biblical principles into course content and interactions.
- Willingness to teach both electrical engineering and related physics courses as needed.
Nice to Have
- Doctorate degree preferred.
- Prior higher education teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience.
- Experience teaching physics courses in addition to engineering.
- Lab management or safety program development experience.
