About the Role The Electrical Engineering Supervisor leads the electrical maintenance department at Sonoco's Columbus, OH facility, ensuring safe and efficient operation of electrical systems while aligning with plant goals. This role directs maintenance planning, training, and continuous improvement to support production and quality standards.

What You'll Do

  • Complies with established safety practices, policies and procedures, maintains a safe work environment, corrects unsafe acts/conditions, participates in monthly safety meetings, performs monthly safety inspections, and investigates accidents as required.
  • Supports and follows SQF guidelines, SOPs, and Sonoco’s Global Code of Conduct.
  • Supervises and coordinates the electrical maintenance department staff and activities.
  • Provides technical training and establishes individual development plans.
  • Plans and estimates electrical jobs; recommends procedure revisions to fully utilize personnel and equipment.
  • Determines procedures for maintenance, installation, modification, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Inspects work to ensure compliance with standard procedures and electrical assignments; examines electrical services for proper working procedures.
  • Plans and executes electrical dispatches using the L2L system.
  • Requests and adds electrical components and materials to inventory as needed.
  • Plans and executes electrical preventive maintenance (PM) work.
  • Oversees the electrical installation and maintenance program, including preventative maintenance of plant machines.
  • Identifies inefficiencies and potential electrical problems and coordinates with subordinates and contractors to resolve issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position is located at the Columbus, Ohio facility.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical controls (PLCs, drives, motors, HMIs, and communication switches) in addition to electrical power distribution.
  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial modification of standard engineering techniques and criteria.
  • Ability to effectively instruct and train other employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, write clearly, read, comprehend, and follow complicated verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience troubleshooting 24 VDC, 120 VAC and 480 VAC electrical circuits.
  • Capable of programming PLCs, frequency drives and other controllers for proper equipment operation.
  • Capable of troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing all electrical equipment, solid-state circuits, components, logic boards, transducers, amplifiers, PLCs, frequency drives, and inspection devices.
  • Capable of reading and editing AutoCAD drawings; ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Ability to wear appropriate safety gear (glasses, hearing protection, clothing, footwear) and follow safety practices.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: annual base salary range of $104,800 to $117,900, plus a quarterly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
